Bishop Mar George Punnakottil, successor of Mar Mathew Pothanamuzhy ordained him priest on December 23, 1980 at Purapuzha. His priestly ministry started with the appointment as the assistant warden of Nirmala High School, Muvattupuzha (05/01/1981- 15/05/1981) and then as assistant parish priest at Cathedral (15/05/1981- 18/03/1982), Arakuzha (18/03/1982- 19/03/1983), Paingottoor (25/03/1983- 28/08/1984).
